foul out
To be disqualified from a game for committing too many personal fouls. In the NBA, the limit is six fouls. If a team is unable to have 5 players on the floor because of so many players getting fouled out, the fouled-out players can return to the floor in the order in which they were fouled out. In an actual game, this never happens because most teams always have the maximum-permissible 12 players on their active roster for every game.
