Field Goal
A placed kick that passes above the crossbar and between the uprights of the goal post, earning the team that kicked it 3 points.
A basket, worth either two or three points, depending on whether it was taken from inside or outside the three-point line (22 feet from the basket). A field goal is a basket that is scored during the normal flow of the game (not scored via free throw).
